Coming soon, we are launching a new feature of the Bentleigh Sunday Market on our website. On this page we will invite stallholders to promote their goods for sale. (click here to see)

We will then promote your goods on this website and our Face Book and Twitter accounts. The main idea is to pre inform the public about your special item for sale and hopefully result in a sale for you.

The other goal of this promotion is to attract more people to our market looking for something unusual or a great bargain.

To participate, just email to us:

  1. A photo of the item
  2. Description
  3. Asking price
  4. The date and stall number of the market you will attend

Alternatively, you can post the same information on our Face book page and we will share it.

For a limited time we will be offering this service for free.

Items for sale must meet our market conditions, and inclusion on our websites will be at the discretion of our market manager.

Used Goods & Product Safety

imageDo consumers who are selling a used second-hand product have to make sure that it complies with the mandatory standard?

Answer:
No. Only businesses supplying second-hand products in trade or commerce have to ensure they meet safety requirements. But if you are selling or giving away a second-hand product it is wise for the protection of others to ensure the product has:

  • all parts in good working order
  • instructions for assembly
  • instructions for safe use

Sale and supply of second-hand electrical equipment

Sale & supply of second-hand electrical equipment

Care must be taken when buying or selling second-hand electrical goods at any trash and treasure market.

If you are selling or supplying second-hand electrical equipment you must make certain information available to prospective buyers.

Organisations and individuals supplying or offering to supply second-hand electrical equipment must be aware of the legal obligations imposed on them under electricity safety legislation. These include:

  • A person supplying or offering to supply second-hand electrical equipment must attach a label to the equipment stating that it is second-hand
  • A business, including major charitable organisations, supplying or offering to supply second-hand electrical equipment must also attach a label stating that the equipment is second-hand and has been inspected and tested, and is compliant with Australian/New Zealand Standard(AS/NZS) 3760, or
  • If it has not been tested, the business supplying or offering to supply second-hand electrical equipment must include a clear statement on the label stating the equipment is second-hand, with additional words as follows: DANGER – DO NOT USE OR CONNECT TO SUPPLY – THIS SECOND-HAND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT MAY BE FAULTY AND SHOULD BE INSPECTED AND TESTED BY A COMPETENT PERSON IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS/NZS 3760

The Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 3760 covers the requirements for In-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Purchasers are advised to have this item checked for damage and tested prior to use. It must be operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Notes

1. The inclusion of the inspector’s identity is not mandatory but is strongly recommended.

2.The use of generic AS/NZS 3760 compliance tags, commonly used by tradesmen and inspectors and available from electrical wholesalers, is acceptable in conjunction with a label stating the equipment is second-hand.

Kate held leadership roles in the firm’s diversity program, pro bono legal services and recruitment team.
Kate is the Vice President of the Board of Berry Street Victoria – the state’s largest
independent child and family welfare organisation. She is also a member of the Board of Heide Museum of Modern Art. Kate holds honours degrees in Law and Arts.

A graduate of Sydney University and The University of Melbourne, Toni’s work in education innovation has been published both nationally and internationally. Prior to becoming Principal of The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School in 2013, Toni was the founding Assistant Principal of Nossal High School, Victoria’s first co-educational Select Entry High School. Before this Toni was Assistant Principal at Mordialloc College and Director of Staff Development at Mentone Girls’ Secondary College.
Her portfolio across all schools has been one of leading a strong performance and development culture and the driving of a ‘thinking schools’ approach. In 2013 Toni was a awarded a Fellowship of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL) for her contribution and service to education.

Bareetu is a crew leader for the Reach Foundation, volunteers for the Salvation Army, helps run the Oromo Community Cultural Exhibition at Federation Square and was actively involved in establishing a strong relationship between Huntingtower School and a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory.’
In 2013 at just 18 Bareetu fulfilled a long list of requirements to earn the gold Duke of Edinburgh award, including participating in activities in five areas such as physical recreation, service and skills.
You will have the opportunity to network with our members, other invited business people and dignitaries from our area as well as teachers and students from schools specifically invited to hear from our inspiring speakers.

Hand Crafted Native Bliss Soaps

We always like to encourage new and interesting stall holders at the Bentleigh Sunday Market. So we are happy to recommend Native Bliss, who display a huge range of hand made soaps. They smell great and look good enough to eat!

First Golden Ticket Found!

imageWhat a beautiful winter morning we had today. A full market of stallholders and shoppers and a few GOLDEN TICKET HUNTERS!

The hunt paid off for one young man who found the Golden Ticket on stall #34, long time regular, Helena from Helena’s Curiosity Shop in the Centre Road Arcade. Traveling all the way from Nobel Park, the searcher found the prized ticket at approx 8:40. The reward was $50 in vouchers from The Bentleigh Party Shop and YaMama frozen yogurt shop.

Golden Ticket Hunt Begins

Find the Golden Ticket at Bentleigh Sunday Market-Claim the Prize!

Bentleigh-golden-ticketEach week one of our regular stall holders will be holding a Golden Ticket. All you have to do is figure out which one it is (just ask them if they have it, no ransacking the stalls please). They will award you the Golden Ticket. Then, along with the Free prospector’s License you print from our booking site, present them at the Market office to claim your prize.

Being a trash & treasure market, you never know what you may find, and the same goes for the prize. Each week’s prize will have a minimum value of $25 and may be in the form of a gift voucher from one of our local Bentleigh Traders. If the Golden Ticket is not found one week, the prize will jackpot to the following week. The first Hunt begins June 15th. Registrations are now open.
